Jackrabbit Ridge Preservation Project - A community effort is underway to preserve as a natural area that we are calling “JackRabbit Ridge” (JRR). This is a volunteer project dedicated to preserving this remaining island of native habitat as a connective open space natural area for limited-use educational, research and muscle-powered recreational activities. Our vision is to incorporate the JRR Natural Area into the Tapteal Greenway trail and preserve system developing along the lower reaches of the Yakima River.
The proposed natural area includes the undeveloped slope that runs from the east side of Willamette Heights, near West Richland, down to the CID canal and the community of Riverside Drive.
We are hoping to keep this area an open space rather than another housing development. For more information see their web site. www.jackrabbitridge.org
